- Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Steam or boil sweet potatoes until fork-tender, 10 to 12 minutes. Drain thoroughly and mash until smooth.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine mashed sweet potato, egg, almond flour, Parmesan, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until uniform and well incorporated.
- Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet into a 12-inch round, approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
- Bake crust for 20 to 22 minutes until firm and lightly golden on the edges.
- While the crust bakes, gently warm honey with chili flakes or hot sauce and apple cider vinegar in a small saucepan over low heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Set aside.
- Remove crust from oven. Spread marinara sauce evenly over the surface. Sprinkle with mozzarella, layer pepperoni slices, and add red onion and bell pepper if desired.
- Return pizza to the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and edges are crisp.
- Drizzle hot honey generously over the finished pizza. Top with fresh basil leaves and additional crushed red pepper. Slice and serve immediately.
