→ Sweet Potato Fries

17 - 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into fries
18 - 2 tbsp olive oil
19 - 1 tsp smoked paprika
20 - 1/2 tsp garlic powder
21 - 1/2 tsp salt
22 - 1/4 tsp black pepper

# How to Make:

01 - Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for the sweet potato fries.
02 - Combine ground turkey, onion, garlic, egg, parsley, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Shape into 4 equal patties.
03 - Place sweet potato fries on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and toss with smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Arrange in a single layer without overcrowding.
04 - Bake sweet potato fries for 25 to 30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden brown.
05 - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook turkey patties for 6 to 7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through to an internal temperature of 165°F.
06 - If adding cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
07 - Lightly toast burger buns if desired. Assemble each burger by placing lettuce on the bottom bun, followed by the turkey patty, tomato slices, red onion, and sauces. Top with the remaining bun.
08 - Serve burgers immediately while hot, accompanied by the freshly baked sweet potato fries.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The sweet potato fries get ridiculously crispy without deep frying
  • Lean protein does not mean sacrificing flavor or satisfaction
02 -
  • Overmixing the turkey meat makes tough burgers, so handle gently
  • Crowding the baking sheet with fries leads to soggy results, give them space
03 -
  • Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up
  • Rest the meat for 5 minutes before forming patties for better texture
